As a rising star recently, the Gautama Buddha statue has become so magnetic to many travelers in and outside Binh Dinh province. Its location is at Cat Tien commune, Phu Cat district where is also famous for pristine and peaceful Cat Tien beach.
The statue owns a height of 69m, foot diameter of 52m and the pagoda is constructed within this statue. Presently, it’s also nominated to be the tallest Buddha statue in Southeast Asia.
It’s quite easy to get to this spot because they already built the road from Quy Nhon to Nhon Hoi and going straight to Cat Tien. When you reach the town, you can see this statue from afar and should ask local people to find the way to there. Near this statue lies Ong Nui pagoda – an old and solemn pagoda attracts thousands of visitors every year to pray and worship the Buddha.
In front of the cemented stairs leading to the Gautama Buddha statue is a wide yard with a big 3-arched-entrances gate and 2 long walls (one blue and one brown). One of these two walls shows the journey to become Buddha and the another depicts many intellectuals of old days.
The stairs have so many steps so it takes a lot of strength and efforts to make it to the top. In exchange for this, you can get a great viewpoint of the whole Cat Tien commune below. You’ll be amazed by large rice fields, resident areas, faraway mountains, calm sea, idyllic Cat Tien beach, blue sky… all captured with just one sight. Along the stairs there are statues of 18 arhats which looks quite interesting.
The Gautama Buddha statue is the main dish of this delicious meal with giant and outstanding shape between nature. You can go around to see how wonderful and delicate it and the surroundings are.
Because it’s still under construction, plenty of works are left undone. However, with large empty lands still in abundance, you can imagine how magnificent this whole site will be in the near future. For more images, we will come back here once more as soon as it’s completely finished. I’m just so excited right now and looking forward to that day coming soon!
